How does Veris Residential engage residents in its sustainability initiatives?
As a Gold Green Lease Leader, all Veris leases include a Sustainability Addendum to encourage residents to conserve resources. This addendum covers energy efficiency, water efficiency, waste and recycling, indoor environmental wellness and cleaning product suggestions.
In addition, each property is home to an urban apiary with two honeybee hives. Residents have a chance to engage in bi-annual workshops to learn more about the bees and grab a jar of honey made at their own community.
How does Veris Residential collaborate with sustainability experts and organizations?
Here’s a quick snapshot:
Veris Residential is working to obtain Green Certifications (LEED or equivalent) across all communities. Currently, 83% are Green Certified, giving third-party verification to our sustainability commitment.
Veris is also a part of many global and national sustainability initiatives including GRESB, the UN Global Compact, the United States Green Building Council, as well as the Department of Energy Better Buildings Initiative as partners in the Better Climate Challenge and Water Savings Network.
Locally, we work with Alvéole on our urban beehives, ensure all appliances are Energy Star®-rated, and at select communities offer hydroponic farms with Green Food Solutions (Haus25, The BLVD Collection and Liberty Towers), as well as composting services with local providers.
What sustainable transportation options are supported at all Veris properties?
As part of The Veris Promise, all of our communities offer complimentary bicycle storage on a first-come, first-served basis.
Additionally, the majority of Veris properties are strategically located near public transportation options. If they are not, we do our best to provide shuttle service to local bus and train stations.
