At Veris Residential, sustainability is a consideration in every aspect of our communities, from construction materials to community features. We pride ourselves in providing eco-friendly amenities that allow residents to engage with our sustainability initiatives in a concrete tangible manner.
Here’s a guide to green features that make apartment living both sustainable and luxurious:
EV Charging Stations
There is much debate about the positive and negative effects of electric vehicles on the environment, but one thing is for certain: they don’t release pollutants when being driven, and produce far less in the way of greenhouse gases. By equipping our Veris communities with EV charging stations, we hope to incentivize our residents to make the switch away from gas-powered transportation.
Recycling Programs
Apartment communities will often provide on-site recycling locations alongside the usual trash chutes. Be sure to read up on the recycling codes and guidelines for your state and county before deciding what to recycle and what to throw away, as it differs depending on where we live—and many categories of waste many of us believe we can recycle are no longer accepted.

Hydroponic Farms
Our innovative hydroponic farms provide fresh, locally grown produce for residents at select communities. These sustainable growing systems use significantly less water than traditional farming while providing weekly harvests for our community members.

Community Gardens
Traditional community gardens offer residents the opportunity to grow their own food while connecting with neighbors and nature.
Urban Beekeeping
Professional beekeepers from our partner Alvéole maintain two urban beehives at each community. These industrious pollinators serve a three-mile radius, supporting local biodiversity. Residents can participate in bi-annual honey jarring experiences.
Water Technology
Source Hydropanels
Some apartment communities have solar panels, but Veris has hydropanels at select communities. They too use the sun but instead of energy, they pull water moisture from the air. Think of it as a dehumidifier, only with a filtering system powered by solar energy. The water hydropanels make is clean and potable, and Veris uses them as drinking water in our buildings and for irrigating our gardens.
Low-Flow Appliances
Toilets, sinks, laundry machines and showers all use water. If used improperly this can lead to significant water waste. All communities have outfitted their apartments with low-flow fixtures that include built-in limits on water usage. Many of our water systems are powered by AI to help identify leaks or other issues.
Energy Innovation
ENERGY STAR Certifications
When searching for an apartment, see if they have appliances certified by ENERGY STAR, which have lower energy consumption, reducing power usage and saving you a bit of money too! Veris’ appliances are all ENERGY STAR certified.
Smart Electronics & Innovative Technologies
We also use other energy-saving “smart” electronics. Some are more common like LED lights, but our communities also boast more unique features like CHP systems, regenerative elevator drives, modern HVAC units and smart thermostats.
Green Spaces
Green Roofs
To break up the grays of urban concrete, we’ve equipped select communities with “Green Roofs,” which incorporate amenities like our hydroponic farms and community gardens, as well as dog runs, outdoor cooking stations, and green space to relax under the sun.
New green technologies are consistently emerging, and we are able to quickly incorporate many of these across all of our communities. We’re proud to offer these amenities as part of our commitment to both resident comfort and environmental stewardship.
