Pets in Apartments: Tips for Keeping Your Furry Friends Happy

When searching for an apartment, you’re often looking for a home that welcomes not just you, but your animal companions as well. As of 2024, 66% of households in the United States own at least one pet. Unfortunately, many apartments have very restrictive guidelines about which animals they allow—from breed restrictions to size limits. While some regulations serve a purpose, finding the perfect home shouldn’t mean leaving your beloved pet behind.
At Veris Residential, we understand the deep bonds between people and their pets. As part of The Veris Promise, we’ve created an inclusive pet policy: domestic dogs and cats of all shapes and sizes are welcome in our communities, with no breed or size restrictions.
In fall 2024, we had the privilege of partnering with St. Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center to host a pet adoption event for residents at The BLVD Collection. To sweeten the deal and help encourage our residents to adopt, we offer six months of free pet rent to residents who adopt a pet from St. Hubert’s by December 31, 2024.
Our commitment to your pets goes beyond just allowing them—we’ve designed our communities with their needs in mind. Every Veris property features amenities specifically created for our four-legged residents, recognizing that city living shouldn’t limit their ability to play, exercise and stay healthy.
Dog Runs
Your answer to a lack of space with a high energy dog. They’ll have all the space and equipment they need to tire themselves out and stay in shape. If you’ve brought a big boy or girl home, some properties even have separate spaces for oversized dogs.
Dog-Washing Stations
Regular grooming is essential for pet health, with most dogs needing baths every one to three months depending on their coat type. Our convenient washing stations make the process easier than wrestling with a home bathtub.
Partnerships
In addition to our dedicated pet amenities, we’ve partnered with two organizations that cater to friends of the furred variety: Happy Bond and Bond Vet.
- Happy Bond creates dog food, supplements, treats, and other digestibles to enrich your pooch’s mealtime and their life! Their canine chow is human grade, with health benefits based on established science that are designed to make sure our pups are healthy, happy, and enjoying their food just as much as we do.
- Bond Vet is an animal hospital designed around us and our pets, not rigid rules and rigamaroles. Veris residents can find affordable, easy care both at Bond locations and online with quick-setup telehealth visits, whether its primary or urgent care. Walk-in or scheduled, you’ll find nothing but the best care within their walls.
