Fully recognizing the impact development activity has on the environment, Veris Residential is committed to maximizing efforts to reduce impact from any future development. This starts with the site selection process and continues throughout construction and into operations.

We rigorously screen all acquisitions and development projects—which includes reviewing environmental impact assessments—and carefully adopt sustainability measures that contribute to long-term value and resilience.

Our commitment to sustainable operations.

Greenhouse gas emissions: We are committed to reducing our greenhouse gas emissions by 50% portfolio-wide by 2030

Green certification: All new developments shall be eligible for LEED or equivalent certification, as we continue to increase our portfolio’s proportion of green-certified buildings

Green vehicles: In line with our EV100 pledge, all new developments will be equipped with EV charging stations, with every property having a charging station by 2030

Engaging residents in sustainability efforts.

At Veris Residential, we are using technology to enable our residents to save on their energy bills. Smart meters and artificial intelligence inform residents on how and when to reduce their in-unit electricity use.

This transparency empowers our residents, while we benefit from reduced whole-building energy use and peak-time greenhouse gas emissions. We plan to include Green Lease amendments in our residential leases to provide alignment on energy efficiency goals, smart metering, and other environmental matters.

Partnership with Logical Buildings.

Veris Residential has partnered with Logical Buildings—a company that provides data analytics and technology to help building owners and operators reduce costs, achieve sustainability goals, and increase comfort for residents and tenants—to equip our maintenance and operations teams with digital monitoring of energy consumption in real time, enabling us to continuously adapt our building management systems and respond immediately to any anomalies.

Green building certifications.

Veris Residential is working to increase the proportion of green-certified buildings (LEED or equivalent) in our portfolio. Green certifications communicate to the public our properties’ energy efficiency and environmentally aware site management. This enhances their appeal both to sustainability-conscious prospective residents and, increasingly, to investors. We have also obtained the WELL Health-Safety Rating for 100% of our wholly-owned multifamily properties.

We also promote the philanthropic efforts of our team members by providing paid time off for volunteering and by matching their charitable contributions dollar for dollar.
